Teamwork and helping out when andwhere you can is what it's all about !
Another day in paradise... We would like to take a moment to thank those who have already helped, and continue to help bring this project to fruition. Whether it was from a direct donation of time, money or product these people have helped to get us off the ground. Thank you all for your help, support and desire to see this through.

CCUA has been a major contributor of time & manpower and been a great help in getting us off the ground.
12-08-03 The Laka Foundation is a non- profit 501(c)3 foundation. Based in the fundamental concept of respect for our natural resources and the people we encounter on a daily journey, we are dedicated to the preservation of the Hawaiian culture and its antiquities. The Kapuna are passing their knowledge to current generations in hope to preserve the respect and beauty for the culture. It is our goal to provide a platform from where this may be accomplished. We shall build a 65' voyaging canoe and base it in San Diego Harbor. We will present a curriculum centered around the Pacific Islander community from the eyes of the Hawaiian culture. The voyaging canoe will journey the California Coast bringing this curriculum to those who wish to participate, enjoy and perpetuate. This is for children of all ages in our community to enjoy. The 65' voyaging canoe will act as this educational platform. We will include subjects such as celestial navigation, ocean crossings, canoe building, wood carving, music, crafts, art, myths, dance, cuisine, etc. Your contributions make it possible for us to continue. We gladly except all donations, volunteer support as well as sponsorships for this Pacific Islander adventure. Most importantly we appreciate your continued support in the "Spirit of Aloha" that we endeavor to preserve.
